Transparent | Accurate | Measured

CarbonRoots is a provider of carbon accounting and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction services, with specific focus on the coffee sector.

Coffee beans
Thanks to our extensive experience of the coffee sector, we deeply understand the entire coffee supply chain, from its farming and processing at origin through to export, roasting, packing, retailing and consumption. As a result, we are able to combine our coffee expertise with our academic research into greenhouse gases and climate change, to build solutions for more climate-friendly coffee.

The CarbonRoots team is experienced in farm-level GHG accounting, through both accademic research and international consultancy. Individually we have developed commercial and research tools for calculating the GHG emissions from and the carbon sequestered within production systems. The methodology we use for carbon footprinting is PAS 2050 due to its global recognition and transparency. For studies into carbon sequestration and carbon markets, we follow IPCC guidelines for forest and agriculture, as well as the guidelines of international carbon market standards such as the VCS and CDM.

As a result, we are able to offer complete packages of services, from the estimation of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint reporting, to the calculation of carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas reduction, and eventually the development of agroforestry carbon market projects.

Our clients include academia, industry and NGOs.
